"I" as in Izu, Japan: A Traveler's Tale from Hong Kong

As I reflect on my journey to Izu, Japan, I recall the intricate travel route I took to arrive at my destination. Starting from Hong Kong, I took the subway which was only 25 minutes away and runs every 20 minutes, to Tung Chung where I boarded the Airport Express.

After a 3 hour and 50 minute flight from Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) to Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND), I took a train to Kawasaki which took around 23 minutes, then I hopped on the Airport Rapid Ltd ExpAirport-Kaitoku line and rode it to Shinagawa, and then transferred to the Shinkansen Hikari and rode it to Mishima. From there, I took a train on the Izuhakone Railway Sunzu line to Shuzenji in Izu,

Throughout the journey, I marveled at the various landscapes and scenery that passed me by. From the bustling streets of Hong Kong to the sprawling urban metropolis of Tokyo, to the serene and tranquil beauty of Izu.

The trip, which took more than 10 hours, was a testament to the diverse and rich culture of Japan, and I felt grateful for the opportunity to experience it all.

Upon arriving in Izu, I was struck by the region's natural beauty. The lush greenery, stunning mountains, and crystal-clear ocean waters combined to create a breathtaking landscape that took my breath away.

A landscape I plan to visit step by step.

One of the main attractions of the Izu Peninsula in Japan is its stunning natural scenery. The area is known for its rugged coastline, towering cliffs, and crystal-clear ocean waters that stretch out as far as the eye can see. The rocky coastline is dotted with hidden coves and secluded beaches, offering visitors a chance to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life and connect with nature. One particular attraction that stands out is the Jogasaki Coast (城 ヶ 崎 海岸), a breathtakingly beautiful section of the peninsula that is home to a stunning array of natural wonders. Visitors can take a leisurely stroll along the coastal path that winds its way through the cliffs, offering incredible panoramic views of the ocean and surrounding landscape. As you walk, you'll come across an array of fascinating geological formations, including towering sea stacks, towering rock formations, and dramatic archways that have been carved out by the relentless power of the waves. At the southern end of the trail, you'll find the iconic Jogasaki Suspension Bridge, a breathtakingly beautiful bridge that spans a deep gorge and offers stunning views of the ocean below. As you make your way along the Jogasaki Coast, you'll feel as if you're walking through a postcard-perfect landscape, surrounded by stunning natural beauty at every turn.

Cape Irozaki (石 廊 崎) is another must-visit destination for those exploring the Izu Peninsula in Japan. This rugged and windswept cape is located at the southernmost tip of the peninsula, where the Pacific Ocean and Sagami Bay meet. Its iconic lighthouse, the Irozaki Lighthouse, is a symbol of the region and offers stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.

Visitors to Cape Irozaki can take a leisurely walk along the coastal path that winds its way through the cliffs, offering incredible views of the ocean and the rugged coastline. The Irozaki Lighthouse is perched on the edge of a cliff overlooking the ocean, and its bright red and white stripes make it a striking sight against the blue sky and green landscape. Visitors can climb to the top of the lighthouse for even more incredible views of the surrounding area.

Kawazu Nanadaru (河津 七 滝), also known as the Seven Waterfalls of Kawazu, is a breathtakingly beautiful natural wonder located in the heart of the Izu Peninsula in Japan. As its name suggests, it is a collection of seven waterfalls that cascade down a series of rocky cliffs, surrounded by lush greenery and the tranquil sounds of rushing water.
