Take off and touch down! And 24-karat gold vending machines

Well, friends, it's official! I've left the safety and comfort of my home to embark on a worldwide tour. And let me tell you, it's been quite the adventure already.

True to my plans of travelling the world choosing locations from A to Z (in alphabetical order) I first stopped over in Abu Dhabi, and then moved on to Bangkok. So that takes care of A and B!

Now, I'll be the first to admit, I had some concerns about traveling so far from home. I mean, what if my luggage got lost? What if the food was too spicy? What if I ended up in a country where they don't have toilet paper?

But, determined to conquer my fears, I boarded that long haul flight with a smile on my face and a spring in my step. And let me tell you, it was one wild ride. I experienced everything from the knuckle whitening turbulence that made me feel like I was on a rollercoaster, to the stopover in Abu Dhabi where I discovered a whole new meaning to "luxury airport lounge." I mean, have you ever seen a 24-karat gold vending machine? Because I have.

But, after what felt like an eternity in the sky, I finally landed in Bangkok. And let me tell you, it was worth it. The vibrant colors, the delicious food, the friendly locals. It's like nothing I've ever experienced before.

However, there have been a few challenges. Like reaching my hotel in the chaos of the Bangkok traffic. Or ordering what I thought was a chicken sandwich, but it turned out to be a fiery hot curry. (I'll tell you all about these adventures, with a post, as soon as I get over my jet lag).

But, in true traveler fashion, I've rolled with the punches and made the best of every situation.

So, if you're thinking about leaving the safety and comfort of your home to travel the world, I say go for it. It may be scary, but the rewards are well worth it. And who knows, you might even discover a new love for spicy food and 24-karat gold vending machines.
